40 King St W, Millbrook, ON L0A 1G0, Canada
Located in the quaint village of Millbrook, Ontario (about an hour east of Toronto), Millbrook Cathedral is a historic 19th-century landmark that has been transformed into a premier non-denominational event and wedding venue.
History & Architecture
Origins: Originally built in 1882 as the Millbrook Methodist Church, it was once considered the largest and finest village church between Toronto and Montreal.
Design: The building is a classic example of Gothic Revival architecture, featuring soaring vaulted ceilings, original stained-glass windows, and iconic large red doors.
Restoration: After serving as a United Church until 2004, it underwent a major restoration in 2017 to preserve its historical character while adding modern amenities.
The Venue Spaces
The property is designed to host every part of an event in one location:
The Great Hall (Sanctuary): A grand, airy space with gleaming hardwood floors and high-beamed ceilings, used for both indoor ceremonies and large receptions (capacity for up to 150 guests).
The Millbrook Lounge: Located on the lower level, this area offers a "rustic-chic" vibe with exposed brick, a stone fireplace, a cocktail bar, and a stage for DJs or live music.
Outdoor Grounds: The venue is surrounded by lush, forested landscapes and features a ceremony site next to a peaceful babbling brook.
Dressing Suites: It includes dedicated, stylishly decorated "Bride’s" and "Groom’s" rooms for day-of preparation.
Use Today
Though it is called a "Cathedral," it no longer operates as a religious institution. It is now a private venue that specializes in everything from "pop-up" elopements to full-scale luxury weddings.
